Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Foothills Food Bank!
Here are some important details about our Community Volunteer Service program.
Each day, we bring in a large amount of donated food—canned goods, fresh vegetables, fruit, and more that we inspect and stock for distribution to families in need. Our Youth and Court-Ordered Community Service Volunteers help us every Saturday morning from 8:30–11:00 AM by sorting and shelving food in our 9,000 square foot warehouse on Carefree Highway.
Volunteers are supervised by a trained adult food bank volunteer. All volunteers must be at least 14 years old to work on their own. If under 14, a parent or guardian must volunteer alongside them.
Our Expectations for Volunteers
- Able to lift 30–40 lb. boxes and stand for 3–4 hours
- Willing to wear closed-toe shoes, a belt, and clothing that is comfortable and not revealing
- Understand that all cell phones and portable devices are turned off during your shift (lockers are available)
- Agree to treat others with kindness and respect, and maintain confidentiality about anything you see or hear
- Able to follow the supervisor’s directions and stay focused on the task
How to Get Started:
You must complete and submit a volunteer application. Once we get your application, we’ll respond with a list of open shifts. We ask that you reply to the email to notify us of which day(s) you’d like to volunteer.
Once we assign you a shift, you’ll receive a confirmation email with additional details.
Please do not come to the food bank unless you have received a letter of confirmation.
If the volunteer is under 14, the parent or guardian must also fill out the application.
Please note:
We receive a lot of applications and do our best to schedule everyone, but we have a limited number of shifts available for youth and court-ordered volunteers. If you have a deadline to earn hours, we suggest you also contact other organizations in the area.
The Foothills Food Bank & Resource Center main campus is located at 4250 E. Carefree Highway, Cave Creek just two-miles west of Cave Creek Road.
