Volunteer With Us!

You can make a big difference—right here in your own community.

At Foothills Food Bank, volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. We simply couldn’t serve our neighbors without you! Whether you want to give back, meet new people, or gain work experience, there’s a place here for you.

Ways You Can Help

Open Volunteer Roles

  • Driver
Drive one of our food rescue vans to pick up donations from retail partners and deliver them to our warehouse. You’ll need a clean driving record, be able to lift up to 50 pounds, and complete a short driver training, in addition to general training. Routes often start as early as 7:00 AM and run from our Cave Creek campus.

  • Warehouse Receiving & Distribution Clerk
Team up to receive donations and restock shelves. Average weight of crates is 25-35 pounds. You’ll get a workout and your steps in! Shifts run 8:00 AM–12:00 PM, and most wrap up by 11:00 AM.

  • Shopping Assistant
Support guests in our Mirabel Marketplace by assisting with their shopping and connecting them to resources. Shifts are from either 8:30–11:30 AM or 11:15 AM–2:15 PM.

  • Parking Assistant
Greet guests and help keep traffic flowing smoothly. During the summer, we even provide icy cold vests to keep you chill!

You must be at least 16 years old to volunteer.

Do I have to work every week?
Most volunteers commit to one day a week, usually for about 3-4 hours.

What if I can’t commit weekly?
That’s okay! We love having trained substitutes. Just let us know your schedule.

Can I get food for my family if I volunteer?
Yes, if you live in our service area and are registered as a guest. All guests follow the same guidelines.

Need Community Service Hours?

All community service hours are scheduled based on your schedule and availability and the needs of the food bank. Please note that some volunteer positions have a minimum age and require being accompanied by a parent or other adult volunteer. Both the student and guardian must complete volunteer applications at the Food Bank before they are eligible to work. You cannot be scheduled until both signed applications are received.
