ABOUT THE ARTIST:   I have lived in three different countries whose cultures have had a strong and profound influence on my outlook on life. My work reflects the layering of these influences and the richness of their humanity and cultural diversity. I express these affects in my textured, much layered Mixed Media work as well as in the underlying complexity of my work in Oils. In a way, what I want to express with my need and fondness for textures and layers is that “there’s much more here than meets the eye”. I always aim for the simplicity of elegance but this simplicity is made up of putting on and taking off layers and layers of paint and materials, scraping, scumbling and manipulating the surface until it expresses a genuine experience. My art is a colorful interpretation of my history, experiences and memories.
